Field of Screams Opens 34th Season September 11 With New Scene Inside the Den of Darkness

Lancaster County haunted attraction adds Midnight Masquerade to its 200-year-old barn as the Schopf brothers begin their 34th year on the family farm.

MOUNTVILLE, PA, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Field of Screams opens its 34th season on Friday, September 11, with a new scene inside the Den of Darkness called the Midnight Masquerade.

The Lancaster County attraction, founded by brothers Gene and Jim Schopf on their family farm in 1993, runs four separate haunted attractions across the property: the Haunted Hayride, the Den of Darkness, the Frightmare Asylum and the Nocturnal Wasteland. Each takes 20 to 25 minutes to complete, and all four are included in the Scream Pass.

The Midnight Masquerade joins the Den of Darkness, the converted barn attraction the Schopfs opened in 1995 and the one the Travel Channel featured as among the scariest haunted houses in the world.

"We have been building on this farm since 1993, and we are still not done with it," said Jim Schopf, who founded Field of Screams with his brother Gene. "The Midnight Masquerade is something we have wanted to do inside that barn for a while now. Thirty-four years in, that part has not gotten old."

Field of Screams operates Fridays and Saturdays through September, then Fridays through Sundays in October with Thursday nights added beginning October 15. The regular season closes with November 1, 6 and 7.

Two special events follow. The Extreme Blackout runs Friday, November 13. The Zombie Fun Run 5K takes place Saturday, November 14, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the PA Breast Cancer Coalition.

Admission is priced by night. The Scream Pass covering all four attractions runs $40 on lighter nights and $60 on peak October Saturdays. VIP front-of-line upgrades run $15 to $35 depending on the date. The on-site ticket booth accepts cash only, with two ATMs available on the property. Online tickets are timed entry and all sales are final.

Every attraction ticket includes access to the Entertainment Area, which features live bands or DJs on every operating night alongside food vendors, games, the Scream Shop, axe-throwing lanes and the Chainsaw Bar beer garden for guests 21 and over. The Entertainment Area is open to visitors without an attraction ticket at no charge.

The parking lot opens at 5:30 p.m. and gates open at 6:00 p.m. on a typical night. The ticket booth generally closes at 10:00 p.m but can be earlier or later as advertised depending on the time of the season., and every attraction runs until the last guest in line has been through.

Field of Screams draws roughly 75,000 visitors each fall and has hosted more than one million guests since 1993. The attraction is certified an Iconic Top Haunt by the Haunted Attraction Association.

The attraction is not recommended for children under 10. Families with younger children can visit Corn Cob Acres, the Schopf brothers' daytime attraction on the same farm, which offers more than 50 non-frightening farm activities.

Field of Screams is located at 191 College Avenue in Mountville, off the Mountville exit of Route 30, approximately 90 minutes from Philadelphia and Baltimore.
